Jean-Luc Cortes' contribution to the study of Western Nepalese art

This tribute evening will present the work of Jean-Luc Cortes for the recognition of the arts of Western Nepal. Jean-Luc Cortes, who passed away in July 2021, remains to this day one of the few Himalayan art dealers and collectors to have gone into the field, not (to our knowledge) to collect objects, but to better understand their cultural context. It is partly through the book La Statuaire Primitive de l'Ouest du Népal, published in 2011 but remained very confidential, that we will evoke the arts of this little known region of Nepal, their perception since the middle of the XX^e century as well as the scientific contribution of this passionate Nepalese.
